Christa Powell Walley Scholarship

An important part of the annual Amelia Island Book Festival is the awarding of a scholarship named for the late Christa Powell Walley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Powell of Fernandina Beach. The Powells have joined with the festival in sponsoring the scholarship, which is dedicated to encouraging writers in their pursuit of a literary career. The scholarship is available to high school seniors as well as undergraduate and graduate college students who have ties to Nassau County, Florida.

To be eligible for the scholarship, students must be:

  1. A Nassau County high school senior, undergraduate or graduate college student who has ties to Nassau County, Florida.
  2. In good academic standing with your high school, college or university.
  3. Seeking a degree in the English, journalism, creative writing, communication or literature related fields.
  4. A citizen of the United States.
  5. If college student, you must show ties to Nassau County (for instance, having attended school here, having resided here prior to entering college, parents or grandparents living here, etc.)

Deadline for the 2012 Amelia Island Book Festival Scholarship – December 31, 2011.
