Children & Young Adults

Authors in Schools

Friday, February 17, 2012

From its earliest days the Festival has scheduled an author in every school in Nassau County. The response has been overwhelming from students and teachers alike. Each year hundreds of Nassau County students get to meet and interact with an author, learn about writing, and about why it’s so important to read. This program represents the heart of the Festival.

Kidz Zone

Saturday, February 18, 2012 – 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The Saturday KID ZONE is FREE and open to the public. This program offers children of all ages fun activities designed to encourage the love of books and reading. Crafts, author readings, storytelling, and other special projects are available all day. Featured children’s authors sign books and talk with children and parents about reading and writing. The Friends of the Library join with us and offer activities for children as well. It’s a wonderful opportunity to share the love of reading with young people.
